Las Vegas Airport Breaks Travel Record for Second Consecutive Year
LAS VEGAS, NV (Las Vegas Times) - In a remarkable achievement, Harry Reid International Airport has yet again proven its status as a bustling hub of activity, breaking its own annual passenger record for the second consecutive year. As of November 2023, the airport witnessed a staggering 52.8 million passengers, surpassing the previous record set in 2022 at 52.6 million.
Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County Director of Aviation, expressed her excitement, stating, “With 4.8 million passengers during the month of November, Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) has already broken the previous annual record set in 2022.” The substantial increase of over 6% from November 2022 indicates the airport's growing popularity.
The surge in passenger numbers can be attributed to various factors, including the debut of the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix on the iconic Las Vegas Strip in November. The event attracted over 300,000 attendees, contributing significantly to the airport's bustling activity.
“LAS connects the world to Las Vegas, whether that be for work, vacation, visiting loved ones, or attending a sporting or special event,” Vassiliadis highlighted. She further emphasized that the Las Vegas team is already geared up for a busy start to 2024.
The annual National Finals Rodeo, which took place earlier in December, drew approximately 173,500 fans. Moreover, city and county officials anticipated a massive influx of over 350,000 people in the Strip and downtown Las Vegas for the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Looking ahead, Las Vegas is set to host CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in the coming weeks, along with other major conventions. Additionally, the city is eagerly preparing for the historic moment of hosting its first-ever Super Bowl, marking a significant milestone in Las Vegas' history.
Vassiliadis acknowledged the upcoming challenges and opportunities, stating, “In the coming weeks, our community will be hosting CES, and other major conventions, all the while preparing to host the first Super Bowl in Las Vegas’ history.”
As Harry Reid International Airport continues to soar to new heights, these record-breaking numbers signify not only the city's magnetic appeal for travelers but also the airport's pivotal role in connecting Las Vegas to the world. The relentless pursuit of excellence and the ability to host world-class events continue to position Las Vegas as a premier destination on the global stage.
