Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson set the tone, expressing enthusiasm for hosting this unique motorsports extravaganza. He extended gratitude to county staff, Metro, and government agencies for their dedicated efforts, recognizing the impact of ongoing roadwork and construction on the city's infrastructure.

Vanessa Anthes, Vice President of Event Operations at Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., underscored the paramount commitment to safety. Anthes revealed a robust safety plan developed in collaboration with Metro, Clark County, and other vital partners to ensure the highest standards both on and around the circuit.

Adding to the anticipation, Anthes disclosed that next week's Grand Prix is expected to draw crowds rivaling those of New Year's Eve. She outlined specific restrictions in effect during scheduled race events from Nov. 16, including the prohibition of items such as bottles, oversized purses, bags exceeding 12 inches by 6 inches, strollers, backpacks, coolers, briefcases, and luggage in public areas along the Strip and resort zones, in adherence to local ordinance.

Anthes further detailed restrictions within the race zones, encompassing items such as flags, banners, signs, promotional materials, noisemakers, horns, professional photo or sound equipment, chairs, stools, and animals, excluding service animals. Bags larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches will not be permitted in race zones.

Undersheriff Andrew Walsh of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department emphasized the unprecedented level of planning for the event, urging attendees to stay informed. Commuters were encouraged to opt into a free SMS service by texting "F1LV" to 31996 for traffic notifications and updates.
